How we vet every Jobber on the platform

Stage 1: Identity verification

Every Jobber must complete identity verification via Stripe — a government-issued photo ID check. We verify their name, date of birth, and that the document is genuine.

Jobbers who fail or skip this step cannot be approved.

Stage 2: In-person interview

This is what sets us apart. Every single Jobber on our platform has been personally met and interviewed by our team before their account goes live. There is no automated approval — a real person at BOB-O-JOB reviews every application and makes the final call.

Step 2: Document review

Jobbers upload certificates, trade qualifications, and insurance documents. Our admin team reviews each one manually:

  • Public liability insurance (minimum £1m cover)
  • Any specialist trade certificates

Only certificates our team has reviewed appear as "Verified ✓" on the Jobber's profile.

Step 3: Community ratings

From the first completed job, Jobbers build a public rating. Any rating below 4.0 triggers an automatic review. We look at:

  • Reviews from the last 30 days
  • Cancellation rate
  • Dispute history
  • Response time

Step 4: Ongoing monitoring

Our trust & safety team runs periodic re-checks and can suspend accounts immediately if concerns are raised. Customers can report issues at any time via the dispute system.

What you can do

  • Always check for the "Verified ✓" badge before accepting a Jobber
  • Read recent reviews — not just the overall score
  • Use the in-app chat before the job starts if you have questions
  • Never pay cash outside the platform (you lose all protections)
