Why escrow payments mean you're always protected

What is an escrow payment?

When you post a job on BOB-O-JOB, your card is pre-authorised for the estimated amount. This means the money is ring-fenced from your account but not yet charged. It only transfers once you confirm you're happy with the work.

How it works step by step

1. You post a job — we pre-authorise your card for the estimated amount

2. A Jobber accepts — they come, check in with a 4-digit code, and do the work

3. Jobber marks complete — you receive a notification to review and confirm

4. You confirm — funds release to the Jobber (minus our small platform fee)

5. You're unhappy — raise a dispute and our team reviews within 24 hours

What if the job costs more?

Jobbers can request approval for additional parts and materials through the app. You'll receive a real-time notification and can approve or reject each line item. Nothing gets added to your bill without your explicit consent.

What about cancellations?

  • Before the Jobber sets off: full refund, no charge
  • Jobber en route: a small travel fee may apply (clearly shown before you cancel)
  • If the Jobber cancels: full refund, no charge to you

Why cash is worse

Cash payments offer zero protection. There's no record of the agreement, no recourse if the work is poor, and no way to verify the worker's identity. Escrow gives both sides confidence.
