BOB O JOB Protection Promise

BOB O JOB Protection Promise

Version BOJP-2026-08-01.

BOB O JOB Protection is an optional extra you can add to a booking for a fixed fee, shown to you at checkout before you pay.

1. This is not insurance

BOB O JOB Protection is not a contract of insurance. We are not an insurer. No insurer is involved, no policy is taken out in your name, and we do not arrange anything on your behalf with anyone else.

It is a promise from us to you: a limited contractual commitment, given by BOB O JOB LTD as part of the platform service you buy from us, to put right certain damage caused by a Jobber you booked through the Platform. If we pay you under this promise, we pay it ourselves, in our own name, out of our own funds.

Nothing here affects, replaces, or extends any household, contents or other insurance you already hold. If you want work covered by your own insurer, speak to them.

2. What it covers

Where you added BOB O JOB Protection to a booking and paid the fee, and your Jobber accidentally damages your property while carrying out the job you booked, we will pay the reasonable cost of repairing the damaged item, or of replacing it with one of a similar age and condition if repair is not sensible.

Typical examples: a scratched floor, a cracked basin, a chipped worktop, a broken vase.

3. The limit, and what you pay

  • We will pay up to £1,000 in total for that booking, however many items are damaged.
  • You contribute nothing. There is no amount you have to pay first and none of the cost falls on you, up to that limit.
  • Above £1,000, the remainder is not covered by this promise. Your rights against the Jobber and under consumer law are unaffected — see section 7.
  • On a recurring booking, the fee is charged and the limit applies per visit.

4. What it does not cover

  • Theft, or property going missing.
  • Injury to any person.
  • Work that is defective, incomplete, or not what you asked for — including work that has to be redone.
  • Damage that was already there before the job began, or that results from fair wear and tear, gradual deterioration, damp, or an existing defect.
  • Damage to anything the Jobber was specifically asked not to touch, or that was not reasonably safe to work around.
  • Losses that are not damage to physical property — for example lost income, or the cost of time taken off work.
  • Anything caused deliberately by you or by someone else at the property.

None of this leaves you without a remedy. Poor or unfinished work, a no-show, and safety concerns all go through our dispute process, which can hold the payment and refund you in full. Open the job and choose Report a problem. Theft or injury should also be reported to us, and where appropriate to the police, and we will act on it.

5. If the job does not go ahead

If the job never starts, you do not pay for BOB O JOB Protection — the fee is returned with the rest of your refund. "Starts" means the Jobber has genuinely set off for your address; we use the same point in time that our cancellation policy uses when deciding whether to charge you for a Jobber's journey.

If the Jobber cancels, or we cancel, you are refunded in full including the fee.

6. Telling us about damage

  1. Tell us within 14 days of the job, through the job in the app — choose Report a problem. Do it as soon as you reasonably can; the longer you leave it, the harder it is for anyone to establish what caused the damage.
  2. Send us a photograph of the damage and a reasonable estimate or receipt for repairing or replacing the item.
  3. Do not throw the damaged item away until we have told you we do not need to see it.
  4. We will respond within 2 working days and tell you what happens next. We may ask you a few questions, and we will tell you plainly what we have decided and why.

We may decline to pay where we cannot reasonably establish that the damage happened during the job and was caused by the Jobber, or where information given to us is materially untrue.

7. Your other rights

This promise is in addition to your legal rights. It does not affect:

  • your rights against the Jobber, who is an independent self-employed provider and remains responsible for their own work and for arranging their own insurance;
  • your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 or any other consumer protection law;
  • your right to use our dispute process, or to a refund where one is due.

If we pay you under this promise, we will not ask the Jobber to reimburse us, and we do not take over any claim you may have against them.

8. Changes

We may change the fee, the limit, or these terms for future bookings. The version that applies to your booking is the one in force when you booked it, and it is recorded against that booking. Changing these terms never changes a booking you have already made.
