Stage 1: Identity verification
Every Jobber must complete identity verification via Stripe — a government-issued photo ID check. We verify their name, date of birth, and that the document is genuine.
Jobbers who fail or skip this step cannot be approved.
Stage 2: Interview
This is what sets us apart. Every single Jobber on our platform has been interviewed by our team before their account goes live. There is no automated approval — a real person at BOB O JOB reviews every application and makes the final call.
Stage 3: Document review
Jobbers upload certificates and trade qualifications. Our admin team reviews each one manually:
- •Trade certificates and skill qualifications
- •Any specialist licences for their category
Only certificates our team has reviewed appear as "Verified ✓" on the Jobber's profile.
Stage 4: Community ratings
From the first completed job, Jobbers build a public rating, and their profile carries the record behind it:
- •Reviews from the last 30 days
- •Cancellation rate
- •Dispute history
- •Response time
Stage 5: After approval
The identity check happens once, before a Jobber's first job. A DBS certificate is a snapshot of the day it was issued — nothing monitors it afterwards, and we are not subscribed to the DBS Update Service, which does not cover Basic checks anyway. We treat a certificate as current for 24 months from its issue date, and ask the Jobber for a new one after that.
What continues is the record and the reporting route. Every job leaves a rated, photographed history against that Jobber's profile, customers can report an issue at any time through the dispute system, and our team can suspend an account immediately when a concern is raised.
What you can do
- •Always check for the "Verified ✓" badge before accepting a Jobber
- •Read recent reviews — not just the overall score
- •Use the in-app chat before the job starts if you have questions
- •Never pay cash outside the platform (you lose all protections)
