It isn't held in a separate escrow account and it isn't a guarantee: nothing actually leaves the customer's account until the job is confirmed complete, and in the rare case of a dispute or a card chargeback a payment can be reversed after it has reached you. Your earnings are released as soon as the customer confirms the job — or automatically about 4 hours after you mark it complete if they don't, unless they've raised an issue. That window gives them a fair chance to flag a problem before the money moves, which is what keeps disputes from landing after you've been paid. From there it's paid into your bank on Stripe's standard schedule — usually 1–2 business days once your account is established. Your first payout can take a little longer while Stripe finishes its checks.
