Full-time work — your questions answered
Can I really do this full-time?
Yes. Many Jobbers make BOB O JOB their main income by stacking jobs across categories and areas. You control how much you work — go online full days, set a wide service radius, and accept back-to-back jobs.
How much can a full-time Jobber earn?
Most jobs pay between £12.75 and £45 an hour, and you keep the large majority of every job's value. Your total is up to you — the more jobs you complete and the higher your tier, the bigger your per-job bonus.
Will I get a steady stream of jobs?
Job volume depends on demand in your area and the categories and radius you cover. To maximise offers, add several skills, widen your service radius, keep your response time fast and your rating high — our matching favours reliable, well-rated Jobbers.
Am I employed or self-employed?
You're self-employed. You work for yourself, choose your own jobs and hours, and are responsible for your own tax and National Insurance. We recommend keeping records and checking HMRC guidance on self-employment.
What checks do I have to pass?
Every Jobber is ID-verified, interviewed by our team and DBS-checked before they take a single job — you apply for the DBS check yourself at gov.uk and pay the fee, which is a cost of running your own business. Nobody is approved automatically, and customers can see that every Jobber has been through the same checks.
When and how do I get paid?
The customer's card is authorised the moment they post the job, so the money is checked and reserved before you travel and there's no invoice to raise or chase. It isn't held in a separate escrow account and it isn't a guarantee: nothing actually leaves the customer's account until the job is confirmed complete, and in the rare case of a dispute or a card chargeback a payment can be reversed after it has reached you. Your earnings are released as soon as the customer confirms the job — or automatically about 4 hours after you mark it complete if they don't, unless they've raised an issue. That window gives them a fair chance to flag a problem before the money moves, which is what keeps disputes from landing after you've been paid. From there it's paid into your bank on Stripe's standard schedule — usually 1–2 business days once your account is established. Your first payout can take a little longer while Stripe finishes its checks.
