How is BOB O JOB different from other gig apps?
You see the actual job and your exact take-home amount before you accept — a fixed price for the job, not a per-drop rate that moves while you work. Jobs are local and often repeat, so you build your own base of customers and reviews rather than starting from zero every shift.
Do I need a car, bike or scooter?
No. Most jobs stay in one place — cleaning, gardening, flat-pack assembly, dog walking — and you choose the radius you work in. Some moving jobs go easier with a vehicle; simply skip the ones that don't suit you.
How much can I earn doing gig work?
Most jobs pay between £12.75 and £45 an hour. You earn more as you complete jobs and climb from Bronze to Silver to Gold — each tier adds a bigger bonus on top of every job.
Can I do this alongside another app or a job?
Yes. There's no exclusivity and no minimum hours — plenty of Jobbers fit BOB O JOB around another gig app, a day job or studies. Go online when you want the work and offline when you don't.
Am I employed or self-employed?
You're self-employed. You work for yourself, choose your own jobs and hours, and are responsible for your own tax and National Insurance. We recommend keeping records and checking HMRC guidance on self-employment.
When and how do I get paid?
The customer's card is authorised the moment they post the job, so the money is checked and reserved before you travel and there's no invoice to raise or chase. It isn't held in a separate escrow account and it isn't a guarantee: nothing actually leaves the customer's account until the job is confirmed complete, and in the rare case of a dispute or a card chargeback a payment can be reversed after it has reached you. Your earnings are released as soon as the customer confirms the job — or automatically about 4 hours after you mark it complete if they don't, unless they've raised an issue. That window gives them a fair chance to flag a problem before the money moves, which is what keeps disputes from landing after you've been paid. From there it's paid into your bank on Stripe's standard schedule — usually 1–2 business days once your account is established. Your first payout can take a little longer while Stripe finishes its checks.
